The WRX headlight has bends and contours that require the film to conform during application. Instead of leaving you with a tight perimeter from the start, this kit includes extra material where it helps the installation process.
Begin at the pre-cut inner corner, then work across the lens using controlled heat and tension. Once the film is conformed and positioned, trim the excess to finish the perimeter.

Review the tutorial before beginning. Pay attention to initial alignment, controlled heat, conforming the film, and finishing the edges.
Recommended tools: A felt-edge squeegee, clean microfiber towels, lens-compatible surface cleaner, a heat gun, and suitable film-trimming tools.
Prepare the headlights. Remove dirt, wax, dressing, and residue. Start with clean, dry, cool lenses and confirm that the surface is sound and suitable for adhesive film.
Start at the inner corner. Identify the correct overlay for each side. Align the pre-cut inner corner before working across the rest of the headlight.
Conform the film gradually. Use gentle, controlled heat and even tension to shape the material around the lens contours. Use the extra material as working room and avoid excessive stretching or overheating.
Squeegee across the lens. Apply controlled pressure as you work outward, checking for wrinkles and trapped air before securing the perimeter.
Trim and inspect. Finish the excess material using a lens-safe trimming method. Do not cut directly into the lens, paint, or trim. Inspect the edges and verify headlight operation and visibility.
Take Your Time Around the Curves
Installer-friendly sizing provides extra working material, but this project still requires heat control, careful alignment, and trimming. Professional installation is recommended if you are unfamiliar with these techniques.

This was the first headlight tint job I attempted. I bought the kit: heat gun, razor, cloth and squeegee. Definitely challenging but the heat gun was the key.
