Wet Installation Guide

Wet installation allows each overlay to be repositioned during alignment before it is fully secured. This product requires patience and careful alignment due to the length of the eyelid and the contours of the factory headlight.

Step 1: Prepare the Headlights

Thoroughly clean both headlights to remove dirt, road film, wax, ceramic products and other contaminants. Use a clay bar when necessary, then complete the final cleaning step with a vinyl-safe surface-preparation solution. The headlight lenses must be completely clean before installation.

Step 2: Check the Installation Conditions

Work in a clean, shaded and temperature-controlled environment. Never apply the overlays in direct sunlight or to hot, cold or wet headlights. For the best results, install between 65°F and 80°F. Installation may be possible between 50°F and 90°F, but additional care may be required.

Step 3: Prepare the Slip Solution

Use Premium Surface Lube or another vinyl-safe slip solution. If a professional solution is unavailable, mix approximately 16 ounces of clean water with one small drop of mild dish soap. Apply only a very light mist to the adhesive side of the overlay—less solution is better.

Step 4: Identify and Position the Overlays

Identify the driver-side and passenger-side pieces before removing the backing. Lightly mist the adhesive side of the film, then position the overlay over the amber reflector and upper portion of the headlight. Carefully check the alignment along the headlight edges before securing the film.

Step 5: Anchor and Squeegee the Film

Once aligned, anchor the overlay near the center and begin squeegeeing outward using controlled, overlapping strokes. Push the slip solution and trapped air toward the nearest edge while maintaining the overlay’s alignment.

Step 6: Conform the Eyelid

Work gradually across the upper headlight area. Apply gentle heat when necessary to soften the film and help it conform to curves, bends and corners. Avoid overheating or overstretching the material, which may affect fitment and appearance.

Step 7: Secure the Edges

Continue removing moisture and air until the entire overlay is seated. Carefully inspect and press down every edge, particularly around narrow sections and curved areas. Apply light finishing heat where needed to help secure the perimeter.

Step 8: Inspect and Allow to Cure

Inspect both overlays for trapped moisture, air pockets or unsecured edges. Allow the vehicle to remain in a warm, dry environment while the remaining moisture evaporates. Avoid washing the vehicle or exposing the overlays to unnecessary moisture for at least 24 hours.
