Installation Guide

Installing your WRX rear bumper reflector overlays is straightforward and requires only basic tools. A wet installation is recommended because it allows each overlay to be repositioned for accurate alignment before the adhesive is secured.

Step 1: Prepare the Reflectors

Thoroughly clean each reflector to remove dirt, dust, wax, ceramic products and other surface contaminants. Use a clay bar when necessary, then complete the final cleaning step with a vinyl-safe surface-preparation solution. Dry the reflectors completely before beginning.

Step 2: Check the Installation Conditions

Install the overlays in a clean, shaded and temperature-controlled environment. Never apply the film in direct sunlight or to a hot, cold or wet reflector. For the best results, we recommend an installation temperature between 65°F and 80°F.

Step 3: Prepare the Slip Solution

Use a vinyl-safe surface slip solution. If a professional solution is unavailable, mix approximately 16 ounces of clean water with one small drop of mild dish soap. Too much soap can reduce initial adhesion and extend the drying time.

Step 4: Position the Overlays

Identify the driver-side and passenger-side pieces before removing the backing. Lightly mist the reflector and adhesive side of the corresponding overlay. Align the film with the top edge of the reflector, then carefully position it over the entire application area.

Step 5: Squeegee the Film

Once properly aligned, hold the overlay in place and begin squeegeeing from the center toward the outer edges. Use controlled, overlapping strokes to remove the slip solution and air trapped beneath the film.

Step 6: Secure the Edges

Apply gentle heat to help evaporate remaining moisture and activate the adhesive. Avoid overheating or overstretching the material. Firmly press around the entire perimeter to ensure all edges are properly secured.

Step 7: Inspect and Allow to Cure

Inspect the completed installation for trapped moisture, air pockets or loose edges. Allow the vehicle to remain in a warm, dry environment while any remaining moisture evaporates. Avoid washing the vehicle or exposing the overlays to unnecessary moisture for at least 24 hours.
