2022–2026 Subaru WRX with a cleaner, brighter, modern
white appearance. This complete, vehicle-specific kit includes two
direct-replacement T10 LED bulbs that install into the factory license
plate light sockets—without cutting, splicing, or replacing the exterior
lamp housings.
Clean 5000K White
Modern pure-white illumination without an excessively blue appearance.
Complete Two-Bulb Kit
Includes both LED bulbs needed to upgrade the driver and passenger sides.
Direct Replacement
Installs into the factory T10 sockets with no wiring modifications.
Clean White Light for the VB-Generation WRX
The factory license plate bulbs produce a warm yellow light that can look
dated next to the sharp LED lighting and modern rear styling of the
VB-generation Subaru WRX.
These approximately 5000K LED bulbs produce crisp, balanced white light
around the license plate. The result is a cleaner nighttime appearance
that complements the WRX without looking excessively bright, blue, or
overly aftermarket.

Verify the Factory Lighting Configuration
Confirm that your vehicle retains its factory-style license plate lamp
housings and T10 bulb sockets. Aftermarket lighting assemblies may use
a different bulb, connector, or installation procedure.
2022–2026 Subaru WRX LED Bulb Installation Guide
The license plate bulbs are accessed from inside the trunk lid. Because
this kit replaces only the factory bulbs, you do not need to remove the
exterior trunk garnish or replace the complete lamp housings.
Recommended Installation Tools
Protect the Factory Trim
Use a plastic automotive trim tool instead of a metal screwdriver to
reduce the risk of scratching the trunk liner, painted surfaces, or
surrounding trim.
Before You Begin
Park the vehicle on a level surface, apply the parking brake, switch off
the ignition and all exterior lights, and open the trunk. Allow the
factory bulbs to cool completely before handling them.
Step-by-Step Installation Instructions
-
Remove the trunk-lid liner clips.
Locate the plastic retaining clips securing the liner to the inside of
the trunk lid. The liner is typically held in place by nine clips:
four on each side and one near the center. Carefully release each clip
using a plastic trim-removal tool.
-
Lower the trunk-lid liner.
Carefully lower or pull back the liner until you can access the rear of
the two factory license plate light sockets. Only create enough
clearance to reach the sockets; avoid sharply bending or creasing the
liner.
-
Locate the license plate bulb sockets.
Find the two factory bulb sockets positioned behind the center trunk
garnish and directly above the exterior license plate area.
-
Remove the first bulb socket.
Grip the socket—not the electrical wires—and rotate it to the unlocked
position. Carefully pull the socket out of the lamp housing.
-
Remove the factory T10 bulb.
Grip the original halogen bulb and pull it straight out of the socket.
If the bulb remains warm, allow it to cool before removal.
-
Install the new T10 LED bulb.
Insert one Premium Auto Styling T10 LED bulb firmly into the factory
socket. Make sure the bulb is straight and completely seated before
testing it.
-
Test the LED bulb.
Turn on the vehicle’s parking lights and verify that the new LED
illuminates. If it does not turn on, switch the lights off, remove the
bulb, rotate it 180 degrees, and reinstall it. LED bulbs may be
polarity-sensitive.
-
Reinstall the bulb socket.
Insert the socket into the factory lamp housing and rotate it into the
locked position. Confirm that it is properly seated and secure.
-
Repeat the process on the opposite side.
Follow the same socket removal, LED installation, polarity testing,
and reassembly procedure for the second license plate light.
-
Complete the final inspection and reassembly.
Turn on the parking lights and verify that both LEDs illuminate evenly
without flickering. Return the trunk-lid liner to its original position,
align the retaining clips with their mounting holes, and carefully
press each clip back into place. Confirm that the liner is secure and
no wiring has been pinched before closing the trunk.
Installation Tips
- Test both LED bulbs before reinstalling the trunk-lid liner.
- Grip the bulb socket itself—never pull on the electrical wires.
- Keep all removed retaining clips together during installation.
- Do not force a bulb or socket that is not correctly aligned.
-
If an LED does not illuminate, switch the lights off, rotate the bulb
180 degrees, and test it again.
-
Verify that both sockets are fully locked into the factory housings.
-
Confirm that neither bulb flickers and that both sides produce even
illumination.
-
Check that no electrical wiring is trapped beneath the trunk liner
during reassembly.
