Wet Installation Guide

Wet installation is recommended because the surface lube allows each overlay to be repositioned before the adhesive is fully secured. Use only a very light mist of solution to avoid extending the drying time.

Step 1: Prepare the Headlights

Thoroughly clean both headlights to remove dirt, road film, wax, ceramic products and other contaminants. Use a clay bar when necessary, then complete the final cleaning step with a vinyl-safe surface-preparation solution. Allow the headlights to dry completely.

Step 2: Check the Installation Conditions

Work in a clean, shaded and temperature-controlled environment. Never apply the overlays in direct sunlight or to hot, cold or wet headlights. For the best results, install between 65°F and 80°F. Installation may be possible between 50°F and 90°F, but additional care may be required.

Step 3: Prepare the Surface Lube

Use Premium Surface Lube or prepare a mild solution using approximately 16 ounces of clean water and one drop of dish soap. Excess soap may reduce initial adhesion and increase drying time.

Step 4: Identify and Test-Fit the Overlays

Identify the driver-side and passenger-side pieces before removing them from the backing paper. Test-fit each overlay over the corresponding amber reflector to understand its alignment and orientation.

Step 5: Lightly Mist and Position the Film

Remove the overlay from its backing and apply a very light mist of surface lube to the adhesive side. Position the film over the amber reflector and carefully slide it into the correct location. Less solution is better.

Step 6: Squeegee Out the Solution

Once the overlay is aligned, hold it in position and begin squeegeeing from the center toward the outer edges using controlled, overlapping strokes. Push the surface lube and trapped air completely out from beneath the film.

Step 7: Conform and Secure the Film

Apply gentle heat when necessary to help the film conform to bends, edges and headlight contours. Avoid overheating or overstretching the material. Continue squeegeeing until the film is smooth and every edge is securely adhered.

Step 8: Inspect and Allow to Dry

Inspect both overlays for trapped moisture, air pockets, wrinkles or unsecured edges. Allow the vehicle to remain in a warm, dry environment while the adhesive sets. Gentle finishing heat may be used to help accelerate the drying process.
