Most installations require only the included overlay pieces, a clean microfiber cloth, isopropyl alcohol (70% or higher), and a heat gun or hair dryer. No special tools or adhesives are needed — the overlays use pre-applied 3M adhesive backing.
Clean the emblem thoroughly with isopropyl alcohol and let it dry completely. Remove any wax, polish, or silicone residue. A clean, dry surface is the single most important factor for a strong, lasting bond.
Yes. Gently warming the overlay with a hair dryer or heat gun (on low setting) for 10–15 seconds makes the material more pliable and helps it conform to the contours of the emblem without lifting at the edges.
Apply gentle heat to soften the adhesive, then carefully work a plastic trim tool or your fingernail under one corner and peel slowly. Any adhesive residue can be cleaned with isopropyl alcohol or a dedicated adhesive remover.
When removed using the heat method described above, overlays typically peel cleanly. We recommend testing the removal method on an inconspicuous area first if you have concerns about your specific emblem finish.
Cold temperatures reduce adhesive effectiveness. For best results, install in a space that is at least 60°F (15°C), or warm both the emblem and the overlay before application.
