2008-2014 SUBARU STI / WRX HATCHBACK TAIL LIGHT OVERLAY WITH CUSTOM CUT OUT
Our original design for this tail light has been run by just about every WRX/STI owner out there, so we decided to release some new options including this one that really changes up the look of the rear end in an aggressive way. Using our pre-cut method we've made this overlay so that all you have to do is line up the two pieces when you're installing them to get this desired look. The outer portion of the tail light is made with excess material in order to make it easier to conform around the bend and only requires trimming after you've fully installed the overlay. Unlike most ebay or amazon vendors, Premium Auto Styling vinyl overlays are designed and produced here in the USA in our own facility. INSTALL GUIDE
TOOLS REQUIRED: PRO FELT SQUEEGEE, HEAT GUN, TRIMMING REQUIRED
WET INSTALL BASICS: Getting the vinyl installed on your ride is very easy and only requires minimal tools. First you need: lubrication spray solution. You can make a lubrication spray solution at home by using a spray bottle filled with water and mixing it with 1 drop of dish soap or buy our PRE-MIX SOLUTION SOLD HERE, You'll also need an application squeegee. For Best results we recommend cleaning the surface that you'll be applying our overlays too, cleaning should consist of removal of any waxes, dirt and or debris. For the cleaning process a clay bar is highly recommended: CLEANING PREP SPRAY & CLAY BAR's SOLD HERE). Before you begin installation of any vinyl overlays please make sure you are working in the right conditions, you should never install vinyl in direct sunlight, never apply vinyl in temperatures that are neither too hot nor too cold. Our in-house expert installers say the optimum temperature for installing vinyl is between 65 and 72 degrees (F). Vinyl can be installed as low as 50 degrees (F), and up to 90 degrees (F).
Next, lightly spray the surface you will be applying the overlay too, then peel the overlay from the backing paper, spray both sides of the tint, and line it up to your tail light starting with the smaller inner section. Once placed correctly, using a squeegee be sure to use firm pressure in order to remove the water from underneath the tint.
Now for the outer portion. Start with the face of the tail light. Line it up with the inner smaller section you placed first. Once aligned, set the face in place by squeegeeing it down. Now that the face is locked into place, hold the remaining material away from the side of the tail light, using a heat gun, heat up this section so that it becomes conformable. Place your hands at the top and bottom outer corners, and pull towards the front of the vehicle with equal pressure top and bottom. This will glass the material around the bend and all that is left is to squeegee the material down. Once complete use a heat gun to set all your edges into place and you are down to the last step.
Go back over the entire product with your squeegee to make sure there is no remaining air or moisture underneath the material. Finish by post heating the entire product with a heat gun or by leaving the vehicle outside on a warm sunny day for a couple of hours. This is done to finish the adhering process, and help conform any beveled edges. Once this is done your install is complete.
