2016-2020 Honda Civic Sedan - Tail Light Deck Black Out - Mid Smoke

The Sedan is cool, but we wanted to really give it an OEM+ Sport package look to the tail light so we kept with OEM line styling and followed the awesome curves that already exist in the factory light to make a custom pre-cut black out deck that's an easy vehicle wrap diy project. This vinyl is vastly different from your typical decal/sticker vinyl. This material is easily conformable and because of its air release technology simple to place and re-position, as well as install when squeegeeing it into place. Unlike most ebay or amazon vendors, Premium Auto Styling vinyl overlays are designed and produced here in the USA in our own facility. We design and test fit all products to ensure fitment guaranteeing you the best results . Basically, if they don’t work on our cars, they’re not going to end up on yours. If you are looking for an inexpensive styling modification, or you just want to change up the factory look, it's a great idea to checkout this vinyl overlay.

NOTE: THIS PRODUCT IS MADE SPECIFICALLY FOR THE STOCK OEM TAIL LIGHTS ONLY ON THE 2016-2020 MODEL! IT IS NOT MADE FOR ANY AFTER MARKET TAIL LIGHT.

INSTALL GUIDE

This product is made with specialty tint film, it is not sticker vinyl and it is not your typical tint film, which is why it is a DRY INSTALL product!

NOT A WET INSTALL. Meaning, DO NOT use water on the surface or on the adhesive side of this material when installing.

1. Getting the vinyl installed on your vehicle is only requires minimal tools. For Best results we recommend cleaning the surface that you'll be applying our overlays too, cleaning should consist of removal of any waxes, dirt and or debris. This also includes the inner edges of the light such as the edges that are in the gap between the body of the vehicle and the trunk. For the cleaning process a clay bar is highly recommended: CLEANING PREP SPRAY & CLAY BAR's SOLD HERE). Before you begin installation of any vinyl overlays please make sure you are working in the right conditions, you should never install vinyl in direct sunlight, never apply vinyl in temperatures that are neither too hot nor too cold. Our in-house expert installers say the optimum temperature for installing vinyl is between 65 and 72 degrees (F). Vinyl can be installed in temperatures as low as 65 degrees (F), and up to 90 degrees (F). Vinyl has a more difficult time conforming and staying in place in colder temperatures though, which is why we recommend waiting until temperatures warm up or install in a temperature controlled environment.

After the surface is clean and you have read and completed "DRY INSTALL BASICS" Start with the bigger side piece of the tail light deck overlay and begin by peeling the vinyl from the backing paper while making sure not to stretch the vinyl. It is important to not let the vinyl touch any dirty surfaces because it will pick up any dirt or debris from that surface and will show through in the products final finish.

Start with the top of the tail light deck overlay, the part facing towards the trunk. There is a small notch on the top edge, that small notch is there to help you line up the overlay and to give you an idea of the small amount of excess overhang you will have on the edge facing the trunk to tuck around the tail light giving it a finished look even on the inner edge.

Once aligned to that edge you will want to lay the material down while making sure the overlay falls on the outer edge of the tail light (the edge that faces the front of the vehicle rather than the rear). In order to keep the bottom tail of the overlay from coming in contact with a dirty surface you can temporarily stick it to the face of the tail light that way you also wont have to worry about it sticking to itself. Once you have aligned the top section carefully lay the material with a squeegee starting from the first inner edge then working your way down to just before the side of the tail light.

Carefully work the vinyl down around the bend to the side of the tail light before continuing any further. After that is completed the top should be fully laid and you can now pick up the remaining vinyl to make sure it is aligned as you move down the side of the tail light. When positioning the tail of the overlay there may be some excess depending on how you installed the product, minor stretching can occur in this area which is common because of how thin this portion of the overlay gets. Simply position it to follow the bezeled edge of the tail light and then trim off the excess.

Using firm pressure with a squeegee start from the top edge of the side of the tail light and work your way down until all air is removed from underneath the overlay.

Once you reach the indentation on the outer portion of the tail light, you want to pick the edge of the material back up so that you can feed the material into the indentation before continuing on.

Some trimming may be required on the outer edge of the tail light but most of the overlay if positioned correctly can be tucked around the outer edges using the hard end of the squeegee.

The edge of the tail light facing the trunk has excess material for you to conform around the edges. This is to give you a completed look so there is no clear showing even between the trunk and tail light gap. Depending on your placement you may end up with far more material than intended and minor trimming may be required to finish off that inner edge.

Now the smaller piece of the overlay, start with the tip of the tail light the part that faces away from the outer tail light. Place the overlay and using the same method as the first overlay, align to your outer edge, squeegee the vinyl down, pick the outer edge back up to sit the vinyl into the indentation, trim any excess then you can move on to the last step.

Once happy with your final result, post heat the vinyl with a heat gun, or let the vehicle sit in the sun for a couple hours and the install is complete.
